Password Protection
By default, password protection is set to off
and a user can use this software without worrying about remembering any passwords.
Of course, the software could be run and data can then be accessed by any casual
user who has access to the computer. Even though there is Windows security, many
users don't set overall passwords to lock their PCs.
Password protection can be set for the first time using the top menu Settings ->
Set Password which will ask the user to create a password upto 8 characters in length.
User will be asked to confirm the password and a warning will be issued to store
the password in a safe place since the password is irrecoverable. Subsequently,
the software can only be accessed after providing the correct password.
Note:- This password is also used as a base key for encryption of data and therefore
cannot be changed once it is set. Allowing to change the password would render encrypted
data unreadable and so this software doesn't allow for a password to be reset. Also,
an unauthorized user could request the password to be reset and therefore bypass
the password security and so a password reset option is not available.
